What is Gait Analysis?
Gait Analysis has become the new buzz word about town with regards to running and there are two main types.
Sports shops use a Lower Limb Gait Analysis service to advise runners on their most suitable trainers. They will either video you on a treadmill or outside, or use their trained eye. They will look at your foot shape and biomechanical tendencies and recommend a shoe to help support any pronation (rolling in) or supination (rolling out).
Full Gait Analysis is used by runners who wish to avoid getting injured, investigate current injuries or improve performance. You run on a specialised treadmill and are analysed from a full 360 degrees. Images are then synchronised on a computer screen and are played back to you frame by frame to demonstrate how your body behaves through the entire gait cycle.
